aaaaw
One of my red bellies is losing a quadrant of teeth to be replaced by a nice fresh sharp set. They lose them in sets comprising a half of one jaws worth. Unlike a shark who's teeth are ready formed in a row behind the red belly's new teeth will be growing through from below and slightly behind, pushing out the old set more like a human losing milk teeth.
This is the first time I've caught one in the act, unfortuantely the teeth are still too small to find in the gravel.

Was he on his own or were there others? Its often hard to tell cause of death in a shoal because they don't tend to leave much for the autopsy!

He was by himself, he was fine he had been looking a bit rough for a while and not eating but in the last few months before he died he was stunning - full set of teeth, red belly, scales and fins in excellent condition, full bodied etc... but he never really got his appetite back. He started acting odd and within a couple of days he was swimming round on his side (or upside down) and totally dis-orientated. I ended up putting him out of his misery (which took some doing). He was only fed on frozen lance fish and prawns/krill.

You need a piece of string stretched over the top of the tank for the mice to walk on. or frogs from the garden, worms, sparrows...etc..etc...
