Default gear selector u/j removal query?

ive got a 96 uk turbo, its got a lot of slop in the u/j at the end of the selector, ive got some new nylon bushes off subaru to repair it.
when i had a look today i saw the nut+bolt at the rear of the linkage which will come apart easy enough, and felt what appears to be a threaded pin of some description holding front of u/j to the gearbox input shaft,i cannot see what it is holding the shaft on,can this be extracted with a allen key inserted?,or is it a knock out type?,i tried all my small allen/square drives in it today+could get nothing to work.
some advice appreciated before i lose my knuckles trying to work it out.....lol

What a pain in the butt trying to get that pin out.
Just tried lying under the car but gave up, I'll have to get it up on a ramp.

Good luck... I have beaten the crap out of one of those pins and that was with the box removed from the car and it wouldn't budge.
