My New Toy

My New Toy
The monthly need to satisfy my need-of-more-gadgets-itch came round a few days ago, with my 'need' this time being a MiniMoto bike.
As I know I won't be using it much I decided to have a look on eBay for a secondhand bike, but it was clear from the pictures that most of the bikes were just tat - they looked as if they'd fall apart within no time at all.
After having a look around I decided to purchase a Blata MiniMoto as they seemed to receive the best reviews (well made, easily modified etc).
Luckily a fellow Scoobynetter (Scooby96) sells them and was able to do me a good deal.
As promised, the bike arrived on Saturday and I've spent most of this weekend messing about with it
They're an absolute b@stard to get started (I'm told this is only when new), but once started they're a bloody good laugh My first ride was in the pi$$ing rain which wasn't the best idea - they tank slap extremely easily
Once going they feel extremely nippy - not hard when your **** is 1ft above the tarmac that's whizzing past you at 30mph
A few pics here, here and here
I was wondering if any of you guys have a minimoto and where you usually take them (tracks etc)?
[Shameless Plug]
The service recieved from Chris (Scooby96) was very good and I'd definitely recommend him to be your first port of call if you're looking to buy one, and there's also a secondhand Blata for sale in the For Sale section of the site.
What with Christmas round the corner, I'm sure one of these would be an excellent stocking filler for most of you...

Did you get a discount on condition you gave a shameless plug?
I have noticed that Scooby96 really is pushing the boundaries on advertising on here without paying to advertise

Do I feel a **** riding it? No.
Do I feel a tit riding it? Yes! But then again I find I'm usually having my most fun while feeling a tit
Bob - I need to buy myself some knee and elbow guards before I attempt to get my knee down Also, on a couple of occasions I piled on the throttle instead of letting go (while wanting to slow down) - hope that doesn't become a habit!
imlach - the service received from Chris was excellent. It's not often you receive excellent service, so I couldn't help myself but post a shameless plug

Youve got too much money.........
By the way, do your feet touch the floor on it.
Somehow I dont think I could get on that, but it looks like fun.

Really......
I know nowt about them, but I know there are poo ones, and good ones, is this a good one ?
How long do they last before a rebore/rebuild ?
How much £££ for a decent one.
I should imagine that Andy's one is a decent one, he has an eye for expense....

No such thing as too much money
Yeah my feet easily touch the floor - you have to stick them on the pegs when you're moving.
If I'm honest I don't think it would suit you either...

Mine is a good one. Blata's (like mine) and Polini (a bit more expensive) are the way to go. There appear to be a few horror stories with the cheaper Chinese copies.
No idea how long they last before a rebuild, maybe Bob can answer this for you...
A new Blata will cost anything from £500+ to buy, there's currently a 1 year old Blata advertised in the For Sale section of this site for £350 iirc

Andy I have mailed you a pdf manual too this evening. Will be in touch re the paddock stand clips once I've had a few fabricated and tested.
Imlach - how could you think I was in anyway trying to use Andy for advertising purposes

i got a cheap chinky one (midimoto) you just need to take them apart, and put them back again properly (oh and change some of the pressed steel screws for decent ones.
a bit of threadlock here and there and slightly more oil then recommended and you have a reasonable carpark machine.
i got grasstyres on mine for beach use etc..
ok, its not going to win the Paris Dakkar, but its still a good laugh nonetheless.
also its a bit bigger than the minis, and more comfortable.
i will report back, once i've stacked it and in intensive care!!!!!
good luck
