Question lcd or plasm tv above fireplace?

evening,

we're thinking of having a shift around in the living room and having something akin to this installed, but with a Sony LCD 32 screen....>

Has anyone got this sort of setup installed already, if so does the TV suffer any heat problems from the fire? Looks like the perfect answer of replacing our dead ugly fireplace and CTR tv in one go.

cheers

Neil

We had a fireplace, and planned to put the plasma above it. But when you think about it, your neck would be at an uncomfortable tilt when looking at the screen. Although i cannot be sure, it all depends on your surround.

Big fan of the built in (no wires) look.

I would imagine at the very least that you would need to ensure the cooling slots on the TV are unobstructed.
False wall with rear access would be ideal, but difficult to achieve depending on the layout of your house. This will allow you to change/add cables without ripping half the wall down.

The TV set up in the link looks a little high for my liking, it would be like sitting in the front row in the Cinema.

As it should be!!

our tv is slightly above eye level when sitting down.

the centre speaker is underneath

it gives a good relaxed view , not like other people i visit, and the tv is on the floor,

you watch tv with your chin on your chest,,, and theres no proper positioning of the centre speaker!!

Wouldn't the glare/light from the fire keep annoying you ? It would me. My missus put a lamp near the TV the other day (one of her moving stuff around the lounge days) and your eye trys to re-act to the brightness of both, not good for viewing I reckon.
Since moved it
