Online banking...is it still safe?
The reason i ask is i have a considerable amount with a certain online bank and all these recent breaches of security have knocked my previous 100% confidence.
Should i be worried?

Why not move some of your 'considerable amount' elsewhere.

Is there anything you do to keep your account secure?

Make sure you have spyware & virus monitoring on. *Never* reply to emails asking for your username and/or password etc.
The weakest link in online banking security is the ignorance of the average PC user.

I am happy if internet security is lapsed for a few minutes so that someone else can put a few quid IN my account. Otherwise, I am not worried.

Natwest suspended online banking yesterday due to a phising incident
NatWest suspends online banking services to deflect new phishing attack, Sophos comments
NatWest bank has today been forced to suspend some of its online banking services as it has come under attack from a new phishing scam. Customers logging on to NatWest's online banking service are being advised that they cannot create or amend third party payment mandates or create standing orders.
NatWest has taken these measures following the emergence of an email, which masquerades as an official software update from the bank, which may result in online customers divulging their passwords and unwittingly providing access to their bank accounts.
