Yep, good idea but you its an easy way to look a tool, my judgement is coloured somewhat by the first person I saw with one being this complete **** of a project manager at work.

Davy, we work with somebody who walks into the office wearing his, along with his "Morpheus" shades.
I wish I was as important as him. He does it in an attempt to look important - however succeeds only in looking a *****.

The best ones are the standard walkman type earpiece with a tie clip mic on the cable running down but I still wouldn't use one. The ones I've tried in the past have crap battery life and keep disconnecting from the handset.

Would one also look equally as silly wearing a nice, big, black leather jacket?

can go one better than those bluetooth thingies - I wear hearing aids and Nokia have come out with a T-coil loop that sends the phone sound wirelessly to my hearing aids when they are in T-coil reception mode.
And yeah, there is yet no internationally recognisable signal to say "no, I'm not standing here talking to myself - or to you, I'm on the phone."
