Looking at the map, it would appear that Kerry seemed to get the most populated states, and those with a half decent IQ, wheras bush seemed to get less densely populated states, and those with not much of an IQ, seem to recall, a comment about 'hick or 'rednecks' was made by somone. Oh, quell suprise, all the rednecks like bush, "coz he's fighting those iraqis! and getting that horrible man osama!" Doubt most of these people could tell you where Iraq was on a map, let alone work out if their wife is a blood relation to themselves or not.
Would have been nice to see a change in leadership, just to see if things would have been different.

At least there is a final decision outside the courts. Kerry has lost both the popular vote and the Electoral College vote.
I think the "anyone but Bush" campaign actually hurt Kerry. Until the Presidential debates, he wasn't really a contender. Ultimately I don't think he was a strong enough candidate.
I wish this country had as big a turnout but unfortunately when May comes, most people will think it's not worth voting.
My bet for the 2008 Democrat candidate is Hilary Clinton.

Bush won because of the War on Terror rubbish and being against gay marriage/abortion and being for the death penalty. Those were seemingly the only factors that counted to rednecks.
Look forward to US aggression abroad getting worse and an increase in terrorist activity as a result.
A sad day for the US and probably the rest of the world.

I think T Blair is praying for the same result, although I hope he fails to recover like Bush somehow did. Blair has not yet had a UK 9/11 to utilise as Bush did, so it will be interesting to see how he 'plans' to stay put.

May be the Americans chose the best man for them!
I notice that any body who has an opinion that people on here don’t like has their intelligence questioned the Fact that America was attacked by people crashing civilian airliners into to skyscrapers is being forgotten was it so long ago we all watched the TV pictures?
It is only thru the terrorists bad planning that the lose of life wasn’t in the 10,000's. The Americans have to elect who they believe will protect them against such attacks and the Kerry/ Clinton approach of appeasement only allowed the Terrorists to gain sufficient strength and resources to plan that attack which was the culmination of a serious of attacks which had been building during the Democrat's period in office when Clinton was to scared to actually have an opinion and make a decision. Bush at least makes a decision and sticks to it. He is a man who does what he says he will which is obviously a shock to people on here who are comfortable with the Blair approach of spin spin and more spin but never actually do any thing.

huge turn out and they got the man they wanted....whats the problem?
and its not just "rednecks" who dont like the idea of gay weddings and planes banging into city buildings.
prob with SN is that it likes to exagerate its point to such a ridiculous place that the reality creeps in while they arent looking. Bush is not the thick idiot ppl say and while you all laughed at him he just took control of the world for 4 more years.

Best man won in the end, or that how the American people feel......
Just look at the map of the states Bush won, its a huge proportion.
Democracy even in the UK and USA versions is better than any thing like China or Iran etc have to offer ..................

r32: as my american workmate said yesterday when we were looking at the cnn map: "it might look really daunting with Bush taking all those states, but remember that they are mostly quite desolated places"
48% of the American people also thought that the best man didn't win, that's quite a big proportion.

Jesus some people need to get a grip on reality and step back from the SN cocoon.
Bush won fair and square - Kerry accepted that so why cant the rest of you? To insinuate that Bush was only elected by rednecks is very very naive.
Americans I work with have flown back to the US just to vote - thats how much it means to them. Could you imagine people in this country doing the same?
Simon.
