Are you sure?

While probably not the best source of facts regarding previous US elections, the BBC have some data here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/h...ml/default.stm (click on Past elections). And looking at that, the only time since 1948 that the popular vote winner hasn't won the presidency was Dubya in 2000.

This page (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0781450.html) goes back even further, with 1888 (Harrison) and 1876 (Hayes) being two other years when it happened.

It is only thru the terrorists bad planning that the lose of life wasn’t in the 10,000's. The Americans have to elect who they believe will protect them against such attacks and the Kerry/ Clinton approach of appeasement only allowed the Terrorists to gain sufficient strength and resources to plan that attack which was the culmination of a serious of attacks which had been building during the Democrat's period in office when Clinton was to scared to actually have an opinion and make a decision. Bush at least makes a decision and sticks to it. He is a man who does what he says he will which is obviously a shock to people on here who are comfortable with the Blair approach of spin spin and more spin but never actually do any thing.
I've read some crap on scoobynet but this has to be the biggest steaming pile ever. Do you also still believe that Saddam Hussain orchestrated the WTC attacks and he is still successfully hiding lots of WMDs from everyone?

Funny everbody is concerned that the indication of a good democracy is that the man/party with the over half the votes win. when was the last UK election won with that. i suppose this mean we dont live in a form of democracy better change to the American way of doing things.

You have to admire the Americans at least they get out there and Vote look at the Appathy in the UK.

It is about time we accept that they have the right to elect who they want, like we do and we cant be that great we have T Blair as President Sorry i meant Prime Minster and looks like we will get him for another 5 years.

The world is getting more dangerous as time goes by. Too much of a power struggle being laid down for eventual world goverment. Globalisation is winning the battle at the moment.

Americans I work with have flown back to the US just to vote - thats how much it means to them. Could you imagine people in this country doing the same?
Americans flocked to vote because of what happened in 2000. Emotions have been running high and both parties made a far greater effort to get people to vote. Republicans and Democrats appear to be more divided than ever. Previous elections have shown that voter apathy in the USA is no different to the UK.

The polls also showed that the war was top of the list for Kerry voters and security top for Bush voters.
