Plus a share of Electricity, Gas & Water bills.
Don't forget to notify the council that your not entitled to single occupant rebate if you were living on your own

Take each one aside, and ask them just enough to cover the mortgage. But tell them it's a special deal for them and not to tell the others as they will be paying more.
But don't upset anyone as they can tell the taxman...

Add up the annual cost of mortgage and bills and divivde by five.
Basically they are paying for you to live rent/bill free for a year but its your house and they are using your stuff.
Seems fair to me.

Charge them plenty as by the end of the year you will no longer be friends and you will want to make sure you have made plenty off them (speaking from experience !)
I made sure the mortgage and council tax was taken care of by their rent and they paid a share of the bills.

Not being funny, but wear and tear on the house and its appliances will be the equivilent of you living on your own there for 5 years.
I'd work out anually the cost of mortgage and buildings insurance, double it, add on the cost of a washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, power shower, and split that between 5. If it doesn't sound much then add £100
Bah humbug

I used to have a student house and charge £40 plus bills and that was nearly 10 years ago more like 100 a week depending on facilities do you all share 1 bathroom for instance ?

Do not include gas and leccy, otherwise they will happily leave lights on, tumble dry everything and be generally wasteful of energy because they aren't paying.
I would also get a payphone installed. I speak from bitter experience that even good friends cannot be trusted to be honest with the phone bill. If they don't like it, tell them to get a PAYG mobile.

they are taking the pi55 aint they, if they arent going to pay more than £200 a month to your costs what is the point of having them stay, its not as though your profiting from it . id tell them they have to stay somewhere else where they gonna get anywhere , even a card board box for £10 a week plus all bills PMSFL

When i went to stay with a friend, i was charged 50quid a week and whatever i ran up on the phone. There were no arguements over money in all the time i lived there. (well over a year).

By the sounds of it, it seems you and your friends haven't had to pay rent or a mortgage in the UK for quite a while! £10 a week FFS.
Grab the local rag and look at the flatshare rates. Own bedroom share of bathroom/kitchen type of stuff. See how much the going rate is, and show them, and prepare for them to be enlightened.
Good luck, friends - who'd have 'em eh? Not me @ £10 a week

Find out what the going rate is from local letting agents/local papers and charge them 50% -75% of that. If they don't like it, tough.
