Just been hit by a mini tornado!
Whilst watchin the United v Arsenal match a huge gust of wind came from no where splashing horizontal rain, leaves, twigs and all sorts of sh1te against our window. When i looked out the clouds were going one way and the rain the other
Then everything started rumbling and my ears popped. This was followed by all sorts of noises, scrapes and crashes. Then just when we thought it was all coming to an end, horizontal rain appeared coming from the opposite direction from before
Everyone rushed outside and it seems it mainly hit our next doors gable end and ripped about 25% of the roof tiles off including all the ridge tiles.
The tiles and ridges ended up in their garden with the tv arial and some of them are wedged into the garden itself
Gimme a minute and i'll try and take a few pics of next doors garden. It's a bit dark so they may not turn out so good

Bollox they turned out poo. All the glass has gone from his shed and allround the back door is broken tiles and the bikes have been slammed into the corner of his garden
On the last pic you can see on the left a 900mm ridge tile wedged into the ground and the bent washing line pole

Call to mr house insurance man in the morning i suspect.......
Buzzer : "Hello sir i need to make a claim, my house was hit by a tornado last night and has half the roof missing"
Insurance : "Have you been drinking"
Buzzer : "No this is a genuine claim sir i have pictures to validate it"
Insurance : "Your having a laugh stop wasting my time"
Phone goes dead.............
Insurance to rest of his colleagues : "Another muppet on the phone about a tornado striking last night, do they think we are stupid"
Good luck mate hope it all goes well.

Buzzer,
Where in the world are you and what time did it happen? I'll try and capture the doppler imagery for your location. If it was a tornado, I know some people who would be interested in a more formal report.
Cheers

They were listening to the Gumbay Dance Band (always gets them riotous when played at full volume)
It was really weired because there was absolutley no wind before or after it although the clouds were at a high rate of knots very high up. Incidentally Liverpool Airport isn't far up the road and we noticed a plane doing a few circuits before it landed (but that may of been due to a huge thunderstorm which was to the East of us where fork lightening was streaking across the sky)

We had one just like that a couple of years ago. They can be extremely intense over a very small area. It sounded like an express train as it arrived. I have got three radio ham aerials in a triangle about 37 feet across and it took one out and left the other two undamaged.

Got the pics and animation OMG
It had to be around 4.30pm - 4.45pm. I take it the red bit is the bad bit
The wife has just spoken to the next door neighbour and she said she is leaving the debris for me to take piccies for her
My missus has told me that she found a piece of roof tile stuck in the fence (half way through) The fence is around 10mm timber
I'll get some more pics if i can get off work early enough
Pete
PS Thanks again Ian, cant wait to show the neighbours lol

Pete,
You are welcome mate.
Nice one about the tile through a fence panel = classic storm damage.
Red bits are bad, white bit are worse. You will see the end of the storm looking a little like a tail, this is a prime tornado breeding ground. Looks like it passed directly over your area.
Cheers
