Depends.... e.g. unleaded is about 80'ish p per litre so a tenner will get you (10/0.80) litres
there are 4.54 litrs per gallon
your car (ok your Dad's ) does what? 30ish miles per gallon?
((10/0.80)/4.54)*30 = ......

Anywhere between 140-190 miles depending on where and what I'm driving.
£10 will see me good for 140 miles (54mpg) if I'm stuck in and around Central London. But I can stretch it to 190 miles (72mpg) if I'm on the motorway at a steady 65-70mph.
If you're curious, that's in a C3 1.4 HDi.

My 'cough' ( better half ) 'cough' has been moaning about the diesel comsumption on her car, I have fixed it for her quite easily.
She goes to a 'pay first' station because she likes the wide forecourt.
Anyway to the point, she pays her tenner then puts the fuel in, finishes off, shuts the filler flap and gets in the car.
" Why did you only put in £8.20 odd ? " I said.
" I didnt, I put a tenner in " she said, with a confused look on her face.
So after a couple of minutes of attack and counter attack, I pointed out that she had put in 10 litres of fuel, and not ten pounds worth.
But it was still my fault, anyway it gave me a nice warm glowing feeling for the rest of the day....
A bit like the feeling I got when she argued the toss, in company, that the SpaceShuttle landed on the moon each time it took off.

What surprises ME, with all the recent increases in the price of petrol, is how little mention of it there's been on here. Are we all so well off that it hasn't started to affect us yet?
