Default joining the police

Graduated from University in June and am currently working as a bank clerk and sent off my application for British transport police in central London. Regarding the physical side I had the phyisical test two weeks ago to check if the metal plate would be a problem, I passed the physical and the occp health dept, said it wouldn't be a problem. Ahead of me I have the assessment day and formal interview, I was wondering if anyone here got could give advice on what to prepare myself for.

Get familiar with current policies/operations that are affecting BTP.
Keep updated with current affairs and also anything that will affect policing.
Familiarise yourself with the PIRT (Police Initial Recruitment Test) (I cant remember if this is still used under the NRM) and the way that they questions are asked and get used to working under time constraints to answer the questions.
Most importantly be yourself.

One major question that you are likely to get asked.

“Why do you want to be a Police Officer?”

If it is what you want to do, dont let anyone else talk you out of it. You also learn that your true friends dont care what job it is that you do!

My advice would be to keep trying. Took me about 7 attempts to get in. Phtocopy any application form you fill out so that the next time it will be a case of just copying it. Some police forces are funny who they recruit - ie only want local people, so try loads of different ones.

I've been in for about 5 years now and still love it - every day is different and you get a real sense of team work.

Good luck

My mates girlfriend has just become a fully fledged bizzie.

She had to train for 3 months or so, away from home ( Brouge.. sp ), and had to pass tests, interviews, medicals, fitness tests etc.

I give the impression I am anti-Police and hate them all, but I dont.
Only stupid jobsworth traffic.
But apparently all proper bizzies hate traffic, they sit on their own and are shuned by the real Police.

I was actually very proud of her.....

Did I just say that out loud.
