Scilly Isles - Was gonna go, but....
...took offence at the fact that if I sailed there by lunch, stayed for an ice cream and left at 4pm, ploughing a huge £1.60 into the islands economy it would cost me £32 for the trip. If however I chose to stay for a few days costing me a couple of hundred in hotel bills, a bit more for some nice evening meals in good restaurants, drinks and maybe a few ice creams, the trip would cost me £78. FFS, 245% more to justify me staying long enough to bolster the islands economy to the tune of £500+ and sailing on the same feckin boat there and back. Stayed in Padstow for the W/E instead, and it was lovely. Bl00dy Scillonian III can sink for what I care.

They have similar thinking on the cross-channel ferries out of Dover too: come back without landing, £10. Stay 4 hours, £15, stay a day £40, stay 3 days, £80, stay 5 days, £120, stay more than 5 days, £200.
WTF??????????????
And they are worried because they aren't making enough money, so they cut the number of crossings in order to keep prices high.
They complain about cheap air fares undercutting them, but don't want to offer cheaper fares
They don't call 'em the "Channel Pirates" for nowt!

Yeah, I think it's the same for the Scillies. IIRC you can fly open return for £79. So for £1 more I can stay as long as I want and get there in 20 minutes instead of 2 1/2 hours
