Default Decree absolute

Hi guys,

Just applied to the registry office to book a date to get married next year only to discover that I have lost my decree absolute and cannot get married without it. Was divorced 8-9 years ago and not sure which court the ex mrs applied through.

Have applied through decree absolute.com and they claim they will search all courts until a copy is found, its been 4 weeks now and nothing, also got a form from the court service to make a search.

My question is..... has anyone ghad any experience of this problem and how was it resolved and how quickly?? I could declare that I have never been married before but I guess that will warrant my new marriage null and void, but technically I am divorced but cannot prove it .

Poorer but happy!!

The free the Warwickshire one campaign came to an end at 1.30pm on 02/09/04.

I never applied for it, she moved away up north after we seperated and the first i knew was a big bailiff knocking at the door asking me to sign the papers, I signed them and the decree absolute was granted but lost it in the house move a few years back so I have no idea where it was applied for

My god man, have you not learned your lesson from the first time?

That beautiful woman you look at today will become a twisted bloodsucker like the rest of them. Snakes.......

You got more value for your post then. Don't shout it though or everyone will want the same.

yep had the same trouble andy.

got the 1st decree few yrs ago and that was that.

never worried where it was !

within the last 7 months i met someone and we got married 4 weeks ago in kenya.

my solicitor was useless and did not have a record / copy etc of my decree !!!

spoke to local magistrates court iirc, gave details and they got me a copy in under 4 weeks and it cost less than £20.

easy in the end.
