Am I allowed to do this?...
Hi
I have a backup copy on my PC of a promotional video from Subaru which was given to all original p1 owners. The video is 22 mins long and the original was sold on eBay last week.
I have someone who is desperate for a copy of it for his cars records, which has no copyright marks or disclaimers on it anywhere within the content of the tape or on the covers.
Am I legally allowed to copy this tape?
I hope you can help.
Jamie

Technically, it is probably illegal. (No I can't support that).
However, morally, Subaru are not losing anything as they are not losing the profit whereby someone would buy a copy from them - as they don't have any copies. So, if they sued you for damages, they wouldn't receive anything as no damage has been done. Unlike a blockbuster movie where you're depriving MGM (etc) of the profits of the sale of a film.
Of course, if the video has an official part no. and price, and they still have some in stock, it's a different matter entirely...
(All usual disclaimers apply)
