Angry Have i been done?

I recently bought a Sonyericsson T630 on ebay which was described as "locked but able to be unlocked for £5-ish".I consequently ordered an unlocking/data cable and username/password and downloaded the appropriate software.

This has removed the Service Provider and SIM lock but the phone is still locked by the handset. Is this right and if so how do i go about removing it?
I've looked on the SE website and they say it must be done at a SE authorised service center but they don't give a list of where they might be!

I'm trying to contact the ebay seller but don't hold out much hope there.

Here's hoping SN will come up with the answer

What do you mean locked by the handset? Like wrong PIN code entered 3 times and needing PUC?

If the IMEI number is locked I don't think the phone is of any use. I stand to be corrected though.

Press left menu * * left menu
The screen will display "personalised with MNC2"
Press ok
It will have a list of things with padlocks next to them.
Which ones are showing as being locked?

You can't lock a mobile phone through the IMEI, only stop it connecting to the network.

I've done the above and it lists 4 items all with padlocks unlocked-
Network
Network subset
SP
Corporate

When you turn the phone on it says Phone locked and shows a big padlock and inivtes you to enter the phone lock code which is 4 numbers i believe and is 0000 by default.(Yes i've tried that combo.)

Do the cables and codes you can buy only clear the SP/Sim locks or do they clear the handset locks too?

Cheers

The locj you have was set by the previous owner to protect the phone from having a different sim card put in if it was stolen. He should know the code so you can access it and then turn it off or change it.
The phone has been network unlocked so once he gives you the code you're up and away.
