Going to Amsterdam. Where to go?
Hi,
I'm taking the other half to Amsterdam for the weekend. Was just wondering if anyone can recommend any places to stay? Equally any places to go, brown or otherwise .
Cheers
Alec

Drinking - Try any of the bars in the Main square - NOT Dam square, but the one further down which Escape is located on. Went with a laydee friend last year and spent an enjoyable evening having a quite drink. The complete lack of thugs/beer boys and chavs was most refreshing
Clubbing - Escape in the same square. Its on every saturday and plays house music. Opens at 11pm, closes at 5am and plays some nice (if a little relaxed) music all night.
It was a good night out in there.
Food - Barney's Breakfast bar. Very nice, very cheap and very very tasty. Particularly recommended after a night on the lash. Its usually busy though so dont be surprised if you have to share a table. Its worth sharing though. Try the banana milkshake!
Whoremongery - Not reccomended with the laydee friend in tow. Worth a walk round though, if only to note the direct correlation between the amount of time the girlies have been in the district and the varying level of enthusiasm that they entice you in to them
Smoking - Try Abraxas, very nice place, well lit and not dingy with free internet access with your first drink. I reccomend the milkshakes there too. Dont try the space shakes unless you know wht you're doing though
astraboy.

Just returned myself with the GF. Leidsplien Sq and associated roads are where all the shopping and 'clean' stuff is. We stayed in the Ramada just off the square, very nice too.
Make sure you take her to The Supper Club or the New Supper Club Cruise. Not cheap but we had a great time and it is quite a chic place to bee seen and go to.
All the rest is standard....You walk everywhere (or tram) and do visit the 'red light district' and coffeee shops. It's fun and a great place.
