Default Wheaten Terrier breeders.

Anyone down south know of any local breeders for this dog?

My girlfriends dad has his heart set on one but they are extremely rare in Scotland.

Thanks

Have a look on those sites.
IIRC they are so rare that you need to put your name down on a waiting list, as there are only so many breeding in the UK...IIRC we waited 12 months for ours...fantastic dogs...bit dim, extraordinarily friendly. Need very careful training...especially to recall...they love people and other dogs so much, that the highest reward they can have is to go and play with someone on the horizon (There was a oine in the breeders handbook that said to a wheaten there is no such thing as a stranger...just friends they havent made yet)

They also need careful socialising with other dogs...they are so keen to play with other animals, that they tend to mis-read the "bugger off I'm not interested in playing" signs.

As they are non-shedding they are good for anyone with dog allergies, but the coats are absolute buggers to keep knot-free (especially for the first 18 months, till the adult coat has grown through)

You can pick them up in Ireland, but the UK breeders aren't keen on that as they reckon the temperament isnt as good (but whether that is just to protect their own interests, couldnt comment)
