Dog Kennel dilemma...

Dog Kennel dilemma...
Bestmanning at a wedding nxt week and had long booked in pooch to stay with a girl that advertised in the park for dog boarding - ex vet nurse...
So she was as keen as me to meet pooch so I take him round there. I found 10 dogs in the living room of a terraced 2 bed house Phew too!
I was a bit surprised, but pooch joined in the gang and it all seemed a bit more natural than having him locked in a cage with a concrete floor all on his own as in 'proper' kennels...
He's a the big softie I made him, but he's still huge so I'm not really concerned about squabbles and pack scraps, but I do remain a bit surprised with the setup...
She was really nice (if smelly ) and clearly loved dogs enough to share her small house with them - promised 3 walks a day too! £15pn.
Any thoughts pooch lovers?

Hmm....did she ask about vaccinations/jabs/vet record etc?
Are you happy for your dog to have physical contact with 10 randon/unknown dogs?
If only a night or two, your dog will be fine in it's own separate kennel. £15/night isn't even cheaper than a proper kennel either, is it?
Another option - a dog sitter? Your dog gets to stay in it's own home, and someone else can come in 3 times/day to walk him....

Dont like the idea of leaving the dog in either a kennel or having some1 come 3 times a day, (personally my dog) thrives on company and I doubt he'd be happy being locked up in kennels being wound up by surrounding dogs barking or staying on his own for a number of days at home, the misses sister used to stay at ours when we wanted to go on hols and stuff but now shes had a kid we got no dog sitter and dont fancy going on holiday even for a week and leave him

As a big time pooch lover i'd be really worried about the contact with other dogs, unless you know they've all been vacinated.
In my local Vets there's loads of adverts for dog sitters etc, maybe you could find another one that has a bit more space for your boy and a few less dogs running around.

My bro's girlfriend takes up to 6 in their one-bed flat, which includes the three that they own. The girl is dog obsessed; buys "Dog Monthly", teaches obedience classes, etc. Your person sounds similar. Although these people may be considered freaks of nature on the human social scale, they certainly take care of the dogs. I'll reserve judgement.

Dogs need to mix. Its good for them. I can't understand owners who won't let their pooches mix or don't take them off the lead. Personally I know someone similar to that woman who happily takes in other pooches whilst people go on hols etc. Your dog will never be bored unlike sitting in a Kennel for 3 weeks staring at the wall. I know where i'd rather have my dog.
'if your dog comes back sick from mixing with god knows what other dogs...who you gonna talk to?'
Regarding other diseases etc its very unlikely he'll get anything. You'll have more chance going down the local Night Club and getting a dose of the clap

I certainly wouldn't entertain taking her to a place like you described.

Thanks for the discussion guys. I think more like Popeye here, and he's gona go muck in with me knowing that he's fully vaccinated (as are the other pampered dogs there I'm told). Dogs are gregarious pack animals and isolating him in a cage doesnt feel right to me. D
