Really got to me..!!!
Flying out to Germany monday morning, arrive at the car park and notice an 04 reg Seat leon 20Vt, very nice looking car i thought and noticed that they'd left the window right down. Did a quick check in the car to see if I had some tape and a plastic bag as was pretty imminent it was going to absolutely hammer it down.... Nothing...
Noticed the car park guy driving round so stopped to ask him if he could do it to which he replied.
Sorry no can do, last time we did that someone tried to sue us...!!! WTF
So sorry Mr Seat Leon an I hope your seat is dry when you get back and there's no permanent damage I did try...
What has it come to when people can't even genuinely help each other...

lol
woke up last week in those thunder storms
Suddenly realised my opening rear 1/4 windows were open, sunroof tilted and front windows vented by about 2"
They had been open all night- dumbass here thought it was a nice night so no need to shut the car 100%
Was a tad damp in there.
Seriously tho, what sort of idiot parks at an airport and leaves their window wide open....

The litigation culture in this country may not be as bad as the US, but it's pretty bad. A couple of examples:
1) The path outside your house is covered in ice. You do nothing and someone slips - that's an accident, so no comeback to you. You put salt down, then sweep the loose ice and slush away. Someone slips. That's your fault and you'll be sued.
2) There's an accident. You render first aid to someone who would die if you did nothing. No chance of the cavalry arriving in time. You accidentally paralyse them. Now you can (and probably will) be sued. Do nothing and you can be prosecuted, but probably not sued. The advice on my First Aid course was: "Phone for the ambulance, then leave them alone".

Failure to do so could result in action against them (rare I'd imagine, but possible).
...but if they DID help out, as you say, they are at risk of being sued by the person they help out as well if paralysis etc resulted and the 'victim' chose to sue the person administrating the first aid.
An odd world we live in these days. Surprised anyone goes out their front door in the morning

The nightmare scenario in first-aid is as follows :
You come across a car accident. Car is on fire. You pull the person out of the burning wreckage to save their life, but in doing so, you agravate their already broken neck, and paralyse them.
Months/years later, said victim sues you for his lifelong care due to paralysis......
Doubt it has happened in the UK (yet!), but I'd imagine someone in the USA will have tried this one....

I'm reliably informed that no first aider has even been sucessfully sued for trying to help. Although it has been tried a couple of times but thrown out of court.
As for the Leon - the driver may have left the window up! My mate left his car parked in a Paris car park, locked the car, started to walk away then heard the windows rolling down as he walked away!
