Hi All, My mate put his 1995 Corsa on autotrader, and has so far recieved 2 scam emails, which we are taking great pleaseur in winding up, here's their original emails:

Hello,

Hello Nic,
Thanks for your mail.I am very okay with the condition of the car and would like to make an immediate purchase.I would like you to do me a favour though,I intend to pay you with a bank draft that was intended for me through services rendered.
I have a client over there in the Uk who owes money which i would like to use and purchase this car.Only problem is that sum owed me is more than price of your car.
Please, could you deduct price of car from sum ?and send the difference to my shipping agent who will be on standby to come and do the pick up on my behalf.I will wait till draft clears your bank before i instruct my agent to come and do the pick up.
Pls bear with me as this is the only way i can pay you for the car for now.If you accept,Let me have your full name ,address and telephone number so that i could have my client make out draft to you and also send it immediately.Thanks.
Regards,
Scott.
P.S:Actual amount owed me by my client is £6,000.

Hello,

any moment from now,all i need to inform you that as soon as you have received

Needless to say, we are playing along and getting the cheques sent to Seymour Butts at our work address hahahaha

Anyone else had these scams, and if the bankers draft (which I assume are stolen or forged) do arrive, shall we contact the rozzers?

So far one of them thinks that he's desperate for the money (rover) cos his dog needs an urgent operation, and he also lives near Snagglepusstown & West Bigglesville, and the other thinks that he needs the money for a sex change op.

Oh I love bullsh*tting those scammers

tucker,

it's a standard scam, they say that someone owes them money, and that that person is going to pay you the money, and then you send the extra onto them, so basically you end up well out of pocket when the bankers draft comes back as stolen/forged when you've already wired them the money!!

What a set of lords!!

So what happens if you cash the draft, pretend to send the money back but keep it instead! then tell the bank and police you were scammed. do you have to pay it back or are you insured?

So the car isn't even a big issue for them. They probably just leave it or sell it to some other dodgy merchant in the UK.
