Hello

You can just split the signal with a normal aerial splitter. The advantage of SKy-Plus is that they will give you a second subscription for only £10. Otherwise you will have to pay the full price, or get into the murky world of dodgy cards.

You require two cards to receive two signals at once. You will also require 2 x LNB's on your dish.

An additional card & receiver card is £10/month extra from Sky.

Why do you need another LNB?

Presumably he wants to watch different channels at the same time on both boxes....if so, he requires 2 LNBs as some channels are vertically polarised, and some are horizontally polarised, and an LNB can't receive two polarisations at once.

PS Sky will sell you a 2nd subscription for £10/month regardless of whether you have Sky+ or not.

Normal rf splitter just didnt work at all ...have a satellite splitter that allows the recievers to work individually (have two cards) ...but no joy together ...unfortunately the dish only has one lnb output! ...dont want sky+ as im not subscribed, as said previously, just want to use the recievers for 'normal' tv as signal is so poor around here, tried digital ...no joy ...& we dont have access to cable either!

Sky (or someone else) may still sell you a 'freeview' card which allows you to watch only the 'free' channels on Sky - think it was something like a one off fee of £100 or so....but beware, think Sky say it is a one-off fee, but the card only lasts for 2 years.

You'll probably still need 2 x LNBs on the dish if you want to watch different channels on the two boxes at once.

You don't need another dish, just a dual LNB on one dish.

He's not wanting to split the RF output from the satbox, he's wanting to split the satellite signal from the LNB on the dish, which isn't possible if you want to watch 2 channels independently....you need 2 x LNBs.

All the BBC channels are clear ie free to air and you don't need any card to watch them.

This is true, but you need a card still for ITV & CH4.

Yep, all bbc channels are fine (wonder what backhander sky got for that!) ...but doesnt matter anyway as i have 2 cards already! ...& 1 grundig & 1 pace reciever!

Still undecided about 2nd dish v's quad lnb ...seems only certain lnbs work with minidish's as opposed to a normal round dish ...suppose it wont do any harm to buy one of ebay ...can always resell!

well if you already have the card, then u may as well...

19.99 for the dish buy it now, and 5.50 for the receiver... (atm) only thing is you would have to install the wiring and bolt the damn thing to the wall urself!
