Not bought but have sold, and have a vehicle for sale on there now.
1st car I sold, the guy paid and added money for delivery without seeing it.
Then the one I have up now has had a viewer already.
Best to view I'd say though if possible, if it's not that possible because of location then look for one nearer.
Great advertisers window though.

Friend of a friend bought one off ebay, a Vectra TDI. He was driving it back and it didnt feel right so he took it to the dealer, who took one look at it and laughed. Various bits were missing from the engine, to hide the fact they had removed the bulb from the "check engine light".

its much the same as any car... i think you should always check it before hand and get it inspected if you dont know what to look for.. ebay is just the advertisers window, whats the difference between buying a car from ebay and autotrader?? none really except for the payment method..

I went and saw a cheap Fiesta before I bidded. Glad I did, as the description didn't match the car. The seller had failed to mention that there had been an attempt to steal the car and half the steering column/barrel was hanging off .

I bought a car off ebay, a Rover 620 for £1400, it ran OK for 6 months and then got written off when someone hit the back. I was offered £1750 by the insurance co. so I was
I think it depends on the deal - as with any auction set yourself a limit and stick to it. Research similar sales and see what they go for. You might get a bargain or you might get screwed.

Didn't buy one but have sold one and got plenty of 'backup' interest in another two when they were for sale.
Altogther I've probably had 10 times the interest from eBay as I did from Auto Trader on the three cars I've had for sale. Definitely recommended, but as others have mentioned it is just another platfrom for selling. The same caveats apply to eBay sales as those through normal private sales
