Hello
I work in San Francisco alot of the time and it's a great place full of nice people and you can go to Yosemite and Lake Tahoe and go wine tasting in Napa if that's your thing.
LA is fun for Disneyland / Knotts Berry Farm / Universal Studios.
Toronto is full of nice people as well, but nothing really to see.
Steve.

I'm not questioning you - just wondering. I'm going to Toronto for 7 days. I'v managed to think of stuff to occupy the time. Niagra, CN Tower, Cultural quarters, lake Ontario (water sports). Bars/clubs and a really nice tit bar to.
Is it really as dull as you say it is??

LA? Pah! bunch of nutters down there, nice weather though.
I'd have to go with San Fran.
Toronto, well, I live here, and I do like it and there are bars and clubs to go to, but I'd say it's not as 'happening' as London (England, not Ontario, for any cannucks - and yes, I mean you Jerome )

The ones I've met are very friendly and fun. A lot less brash than american girls.
Maple leafs tickets = a lot of dosh. I think about 120 bucks gets you an ok seat. the best seats cost silly, silly money. And no, I've not been to a game yet, usually sit at home with a few friends and watch it.

As for ethnic quarters, well, I've never had any problems in Chinatown, Little Italy or surrounding areas. It's a bit like any major UK city, but cleaner and more friendly, or that's how I see it

I haven't been to LA/SF but i did got to Toronto a few years back. Seemed really nice there, sort of like a small version of New York but cleaner and tidier. Nightlife was ok as far as i remember, we went to a really cool place called "My Apartment" one night. It was a non-touristy place recommended to us by a waitress in Gretskys (hubba hubba ).
Then there's the CN tower, a couple of big staduim thingys, niagara. NYC is drivable for a day trip if you're keen. There must be loads of stuff i've forgotten too...
And you can buy bear repellant in the outdoor shops, like a fire extingusher filed with pepper spray! I wanted to bring one back "for the house".

Just come back from a month tour in California. Did 4 days in SF- visited alcatraz and golden Gate but apart from that no big deal. Loads of homeless people there too on the streets(particularly market st) so can be intimidating. Then went down to Monterey(route 101) and loved the scenery and the town.Avoid L.A. If walking is you're thing try Yosemite National Park but we left after a day as our tent was freezing. Beautiful scenery.
personally I'd grab a decent hotel and enjoy you're surroundings as 7 days isn't long to explore.
