Filling up in France
Has anyone who uses Optimax/Bp ultimate driven in France recently? What did you fill up with?
I bet I get posts telling me Shell/Bp are all over the place, but just want a bit of peice of mind before we go.
Thanks.

The two pumps I've seen at EVERY garage, even tiny fuel stations attached to tiny supermarkets, are diesel, and 98 octane, so no worries.

Edited to say: motorway prices will be 15-20 cents per litre MORE than supermarkets, BUT
Most supermarkets and many town garages close on sundays.
If you ARE out in the sticks, fill up when you see one, on 1/4, as garages can be few and far between, and many, including small supermarket ones, close for lunch from 12.30 to 3.00 or later!
In towns, even small ones, it's often a good idea to follow signs for a supermarket with fuel, often they are just off your route, but well worth the saving!
Your UK credit cards will NOT work in their automatic pumps, but will, of course, at the cashier.
At larger supermarkets, the queues can be horrendous, as the pump you are standing at will not zero, and start pumping for you, until the guy who used it last finishes paying, and he may be 5th or 6th in the queue I've waited 15 minutes in some!
