I was priveleged to stay next door to him in The Old Course hotel during the Open Golf at St Andrew's in 1995. He was exactly as he is on TV with masses of personality; treated my two sons of 9 and 11 like he had known them for years and was a real hoot all week. The guy is a genius and not at all affected by his success.

Yes, I know he was outspoken, but at least he's honest, (are you listening, Ferguson?), and won the European cup when it was ALL champions twice in two years, unlike Fergie who has only done it once

Sir Brian Clough, the best manager England never had
Good ol' Big 'ead .
The national team wouldn't be the shambles it is if they'd have taken him on... Stuart "Psycho" Pearce, "You'll never beat..." Des Walker, Stevie Stone, Nigel Clough, Stan Collymore, Colin Cooper, Steve Hodge, Teddy Sheringham... to name a few.. the amount of international calibre players that Cloughie proved is unbelievable. Even Roy Keane got his big break under Cloughie! And to please the Scots, so did Scott Gemmil (not Archie, he was Cloughie's right-hand man!). All hail Brian Clough!!! And if you disagree with him, try taking him on in a drinking competition
<City Ground chanting>Brian Clough's Red & White army! We 'ate Derby, oh we 'ate Derby, we 'ate Derby, we 'ate Derby, we 'ate Derby, we 'ate Derby, , we are Derby 'aters! Sheep, sheep, sheep ********! Baaaah!</City Ground chanting>
Oh and Brucie is almost as amusing, But Cloughie is more deserving of honours

Flying back from New York to London I was with a group of colleagues that travel frequently and we were going 1st class. Met Brucey in the BA lounge at JFK and he was really friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to see us Brits. Anyway we got on the plane and basically filled first class. In walks Bruce and as he walks by us all to Business class he recognises us and says (in complete dead pan style) - "I'm in the wrong business"
We pissed ourselves - the delivery was perfect.
