Snooper S4R.. works OK & update it about once a month from the net, on the whole its OK, its picked up laser, mobile radar and the obvious fixed traps, just dont fully rely on it cos they are still all prone to faults

Snooper 715IS

Saved me a couple of times

BUT

Lots of false alarms, waste of time on the motorway because standard "traffic control" cameras set it off.. very good in locating the nearest set of automatic sliding doors... handy if you need to find the local supermarket!

Yeah - Tesco's @ 500 paces easily

I've got a Snooper S6R-Neo, the mobile radar detector is prone to a lot of false alerts I think the only way to fix this is to do without and just get the GPS side of things and a diffuser instead. The GPS side of mine works quite well indeed (and now it's coming with hot spot alerts for likely places that the police setup their mobile sites), I update once or twice a week for best performance and add my own to the warnings as well.

Hasn't saved me yet, but it's nice to have on roads your unfamiliar with.

I also use an S6R - Neo and have had no problems.

Blueboy, have you got your radar swithed off. That seems to stop all the false alrms. Plod only uses laser to determine speed nowadys.

Yeah - it's off now, but I used to leave it on through paranoia more than anything, drove me nuts with that constant ticking

Kick RADAR into touch.

Get a GPS based system. Origin, S6R & RoadAngel etc..

Much better. Internet based database that you update and warns you about the majority (99%+) of all fixed sites. GATSO, Truvello Inductive loop etc etc..

Mobile is usually in the database there as well. The van might not be there when you go around the corner with the thing bleeping.. but it COULD have been. Ditch the Laser detector for protection. It'l only sound when you've been done. Now, a LRC 100 etc is a different thing altogether. Legality is... mmmm... questionable.

Have a look as they each have pro's and cons. I have the RA and find it works ok placed inside the top box. I also like the fact that I can lift it straight out into another car in seconds and away you go. It is a little limited in detail and may look a little awkward but hey.. horses for courses...

I got a snooper s5r last year and worked great at the time but does not pick up the police any more with the hand held guns. I am not sure if they have changed there technology. I think it was a waste of money and wish i got a jammer and a cheaper detector for picking up the cameras. I was told you now get a thing with attaches to the tracker to show you cameras but have not looked into it yet.

I had a Bel Euro 550 or something like that which was ok at finding Gatsos, but **** hot at finding Supermarkets and Petrol stations

Got an Origin B2 now and it's the DB's no more constant false alarms...

It came with a Laser detector, but I haven't bothered installing it, seems to me if you here it go off you've just been done anyway??

Origin b2 and possibly the LRC100 laser diffuser is the way to go. Radar is old hat these days. Update the b2 regularly and you'll know where all the cameras are, use the LRC100 for "confusing" the mobile laser guns.
The only thing any of these devices won't protect you against is VASCAR so you still need to be aware and not gain a false sense of security.
I have a group buy here http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=327071

For more information on the products see www.alpha-telecom.co.uk
