anyone have kidney stones?
I think I passed one on sunday night just gone - mega painfull experience, about 6 hrs or so of the said excruciating, took me 10 minutes to get upstairs and into bed, followed with a large dose of ibrufen , cue no sleep, could hardly move at all.
The next morning - nothing, no pain whatsoever, maybe a dull ache, but my first **** of the day was a bit dark & smelly if I recall.
So, has it moved out of my kidney and stopped in my bladder?
When is it likely to embark on the next stage of it's journey, ie towards bell-end, is this painfull?
Anyone suffer from them, or know anything about them?

I know how you feel........
Had this last year mate and I really feel for you.
The main pain is bought on by the stone passing through the kidney and the more subtle pains are when it moves along the various tubes
If you are able to go to the toilet then chances are you have now passed the stone. For me it was nearly 40 hours before I could go to the Loo and the discomfort of bursting to "go" was worse than the pain of the stone moving through.
I never even noticed passing mine and it was nearly another 48 hours before my toilet visits were back to normal and pain free
The stones are bought on by your urine not breaking down the Crystals in your kidney properly for some reason and it just builds up. My doctor told me that most people will get them one time in thier life and if you get them more than twice it is likely you will suffer from one every year. He also added this was a possibility for me as it was very strange for me to have them at my age (then 25).
Anyway hope it helps and hope you are back to 100% soon.
Just done a search and the thread I started about it is here. if you want some more info.

I've had the discomfort of a blocked bladder once, about 12 years ago.
I blew up like a balloon and had no choice but to self catheterise myself which was far less uncomfortable than the fullness.
I had a tube handy but no anaesthetic and a large bowl.
Job done.
Kids, don't try this at home though.

I've read I need to be drinking gallons of water to help shift and prevent them. Is mineral water ok?, because I try not to drink the pish that comes out of the taps - unless its been filtered.
Could mineral water be the cause in the first place?

Some lad had these on casualty or some such programme recently. Doc/Nurse told him it was second only to childbirth for pain.
I'd have thought something like snapping both your legs off would hurt more but they're the experts!
