round about 11- 13yrs old some people think or decide what they would like to do later on in life.....
dosser is not an applicable category...
you usaly take options and then start to do subjects that will give you the nessacery(spelling i know) start to your chosen subjects career aspirations...

quick guide as below
Tounge in cheek and flame suit on!!!
no school..........................council operative... £5.40ph!!
some attendace but expelled.....postal worker part time.....£5.40ph!!!
attended school but no quali,ss....shop worker... £5.40ph
attended school and got quali,s office worker £8.00ph
attended school & college and got quali,s skilledtrade £12.00ph
went to uni and didnt drop out.......................politician £****loads
moral of tale...................
its fun to be the rebel and cool to skive school.....

Chaos,
Knowing how knowlegable you are from your previous postings I think you should apply for a post as a nuclear physicist.
Failing that how about being a binman. No training for that either, you just pick it up as you go along
Chip.

I would so love this to be true i finished uni last summer gaining a degree in physical geography and geology, i have applied constantly for jobs since leaving to end up working in a warehouse for the last 9 months for £5hr. I'm a graduate in Geology. Did you get a poor degree? Or, If you actually want to work in Geology, are you aware that most companies prefer you to have a professional qualification, e.g. an M.Sc.? Your written communication skills seem underdeveloped, and unfortunately this transferable skill is held in very high regard by employers.

You know what I think, chaos. is an erudite young man who hasn't yet discovered how to put his talents to good use.
When he forgets that he is supposed to be the SN rebel, some of his posts show a latent wit that just needs to be channelled in a worthwhile direction.
Just do what is the right thing, chaos., and one day everything will fall into place.
Ash
Dubious hamster indeed!

Difficult to think of any specific advice Chaos. Everyone has some form of skill which they are best at. I suppose if you can get a job in which you can use that skill then at least you might actually enjoy doing it. If you have a job that you enjoy doing, then you tend to do it very well in accordance with that inborn skill you have. That is when you tend to get recognised as a valuable worker and then you are likely to get promotion or certainly better pay as time goes by.
I wish you luck and hopefully you that might avoid some dead end kind of occupation.

I apologise my communicative writing skills aren’t up to standard at the moment, i’m a bit dazed due to the half marathon I ran in Sheffield this morning!!!
I did my degree as a mature student, and did the degree for itself rather than with a career path in mind. I'm currently a Senior Technician working in Education.

Otherwise, Perhaps the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, or the Merchant Navy....
I thought a lot about getting into conservation - working for the national trust, of the scottish natural heritage etc, but the jobs aren't especially easy to get, as they mostly want a lot of experience, and once you have that experience, the pay's not that great anyway.
I might reconsider, but for the moment, it's probably the forces, as a rating, & I'll work my way up...
I'd still quite like to get into teaching, but then I'd rather do something else first - just to get a bit of experience of 'life' etc

chaos- go to your local careers place, they may be able to help.
I've just about completed my first year of a geography degree (BSc) doing mostly physical geography. I haven't got that much of an idea as to what I want to do once I graduate. The options at the moment are going in to teaching, or doing a masters, most probably something to do with GIS. At the moment though, I'm just enjoying uni life, doing a SCUBA qualification and playing football, and working during the holidays in a job that is related to my degree.
