Rabbits - Hole Digging Question

Rabbits - Hole Digging Question
Why do rabbits come back & dig in the same hole?
I'm not talking the next day or night but maybe a week or a month after they (or another) last done it!
There's one particular spot in my herb patch that they come and dig a hole in. I cover it in again but maybe a month later, some dozy rabbit will come back & dig a hole in EXACTLY the same spot!!!
This has happened 4 or 5 times now! Not as if they haven't got 1/2 acre to dig in (+ miles of countryside ) but they always chose that spot.
Is there some reasoning or method in their hole digging?
Most holes I just drop a half-brick in as well but not in my herb patch.
(Also that wasn't the only hole they dug last night - about 4 other deep ones)

My query is why they chew wires and how the hell do they know to keep away from the live ones? My telephone cables and RCA cables have been chewed through until I covered them over

Doc, bunny fur creates static electricity, which allows the creature to act as a permenant Earth- hence they like cables............

Never seen a rabbit damage a cable to be honest! With sharks its usually the opposite... they make a beeline for the high voltage ones, buts thats probably because they play havoc with the sharks nervous system via the lateral line etc.
As for digging the hole it is definately for scenting/territory purposes. The buck rabbits squirt urine onto it to mark their patch. Both sexes also mark their own droppings via an **** gland. Look out for favourite "dropping spots"!

You & your pet names & I've never heard it called that before
I'm amazed rabbit scent has lasted for at least a month, maybe 6 weeks, since the last digging episode at that spot! Just filled in the big one in what will be the vegetable patch - maybe a yard long! Easy digging though as its just new topsoil.
I have also been given the offer of an air-rifle or the name of a man with a ferret
LOL that would explain why the mrs bunny likes chewing my telly cables!
