Default *Cheap* Hotel in Rome?

2 of us looking to go April 5th - 10th. On a student budget so hoping to get the hotel for under £350 (for both of us), preferably somewhere central for doing the touristy bit.

Considering The Jolly Hotel Villa Carpegna which is £365, or the Budget B&B (nice name ) for €500 = £335. Anyone stayed at either of those?

Also a recommendation for online or book travel guide to Rome would be very useful.

Cheers,

Ben

I'll see if I can get in touch with my mate, he lives in Rome and may be able to suggest a few places

That would be much appreciated OllyK, cheers.

Found a couple of other options, Sergio House, Cristina House, Michelangelo Palace, or Hotel Delle Muse, any experience of those anyone?

Any must dos while we're there?

Last stayed here:

and it was OK, near the Vatican, not too expensive and pretty funky. I'd consider staying there again.

Ooops - too late, but for future reference:

Cheap:
Casa Kolbe (06 679 49 74) Via di San Teodoro (77.47 Euro for a double room) -looks onto the Roman forum. Located in an ex-Franciscan convent. Spacious rooms.

Hotel Lady (06 324 21 12) Via Germanico (82.63 Euro for a double room) - near the Vatican. New bathrooms. Quiet. Ask for Room no 4 or 6.

Mid range:
Hotel Primavera (06 68 80 31 09) Piazza san Pantaleo (108.45 Euro for a double room) - bang in the centre. Clean comfy rooms. Bathrooms a bit cramped. Credit cards not accepted.

Hotel Pensione Merano (06 482 17 96) Via Vittorio Veneto 155 (100.70 Euro for a double room) - up market location, quaint old place with dark heavy furniture.

Hotel Joli (06 324 18 54) Via Cola di Rienza (92.96 Euros for a double room) - near the Vatican. Pleasant rooms. Bathrooms very small. Noisy rooms.
