When u ingore all letters to do with the stated offence, ie fines and points.. Then u will get a court summons through, with statements from the officer etc. And a date to be there, u may send this back saying u will attend court, or that u would like them to proceed without u there. I myself have been to court for this, and advise going to explain yourself. In my situation i had moved house and never even knew i had been spotted speeding till i registerd my car at new property.

What you going on about?!?
Whats this week?
All I wanted to know if at what speed on motorways it would no longer be 3 points. Seems that's 95. So I think my question was answered! ????

My plea was for someone to tell bartmanuk that it's not an automatic ban for 30 mph and above.
mj didn't read my post properly and so addressed it to you!!
You've now asked why!
I've just explained!!

Not motorway but for 27mph over (87 in a 60) I got three points. For 38mph over (98 in a 60) I got a court appearance £555 fine and 6 points but no ban. Both on the bike, not in the Scoob.

The issuing of a fixed penalty has always been discretionary, so in reality a Court appearance could be in line regardless of the speed for which someone is reported.
However, if someone is liable under the "Totting Up" procedure, that is an automatic court appearance rather than a fixed penalty, if the Policeman doesn't like you for some reason he will report you for summons rather than issue a fixed penalty, if there are other offences then a fixed penalty will not be issued.
However a Court appearance does not mean automatic disqualification. Again it is down to the discretion of the court and ceratinly in my area where Maidenhead deals with the eastern end of the M4 (junction 12 - junction 4) and Newbury deals with the western end (Junction 12 - Membury) if you end up at Maidenhead it is more or less accepted that speeding drivers will end up losing their licence whilst at Newbury it will be a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again!
