Very lucky escape for my scoob... it was actually parked in the drive when the tree went over and missed it by a few feet.
Fortunately for me, next door neighbours van took the brunt of it

Much damage to the van? Knock your phone out as well?
We lost the roof to an admitedly rotten shed & I found myself up there after an afternoon on the P trying to tidy it all up before it rained. Its now got felt/plastic sheeting over it all, held down with slicks and track tyres
(Shed's only got a month to live anyway )

I think the vans going to be a write off. You cant see from the pics but the roof is pretty much caved in. A bloke in his white van came along and dragged the tree off it.
Neither the local authority or the fire brigade had done anything about it by 6pm last night... it had only been there laying there for 5 hours
I think it pulled around 5 phone lines down too... mine wasnt one of them though

Anybody remember the 'hurricane' in the late 80s? a guy just down my road had just bought a brand new jaguar xj6 and the insurance didnt start till midnight or somesuch. shortly before midnight a sizeable tree fell on said xj6. result - in the morning me and the rest of the kids were climbing all over the tree whilst one mortified person sobbed quietly nearby.

It's been waiting to happen for years, i remember everytime there was a strong wind looking out of the window and thinking 'that thing is going to go over one day'
Often we joked about taking a saw to it in the middle of the night, bet the next door neighbour wishes he did now
Im not sure if the root growth has been restricted in any way, guess when the wind is as strong as it was Saturday it will just snap the roots anyway.
