Default The Brits.Surely music isnt this bad these days.

Been watching the brits. Or more to the point the kids have. What a total load of ****e music if this is anything to go by.

That 50 cent geezer. What was he on about. Even put 888 on teletext and they didnt know either. And this is talent is it.I dont think so. Only word I managed to understand was ****** which he seemed to like saying.

And why so many catergories. Used to be rack, pop, blues, classic, jazz, R&B( which was rhythm and blues in my day) and motown.

Now we get R&B, garage, house, hip-hop,urban, dance etc.

Maybe I'm getting old but at least you could understand what the artists were saying in my day.

Chip.

Thumbs down

Surely music isnt this bad these days.
I'm afraid it is, as I've been saying for some time. The music business is committing commercial suicide by pumping out ****e like Pop Idols and other manufactured rubbish. Blaming it all on internet downloads does not fool me, or a great many others of the music buying public if single sales are anything to go by.

The first rule of business - sell a quality product at a fair price and people will buy it.

The Brits has always been rubish apart from when Jarvis Cocker showed his ars3 to Mr Jackson and when Ginger Spice's ***** fell out of her dress!

Tell you what though, Duran Duran eh, crapped on the rest of them.

Poor old Gwen Stefani and Alisha Keys, doing a passable Prince/Tom Jones karaoke and bloody missy Elliot comes on dressed as a Rude Girl/Fraggle Hybrid and starts blathering on about nothing in particular, couldnt hear Gwen Stefani who has a good voice and Missy Elliot gets full volume, completely ruined something that was fairly bad anyway.

Pass that gun, Pass that gun......

"Now we get R&B, garage, house, hip-hop,urban, dance etc"

You can tell the difference ?

The Darkness are fun & light-hearted rock band. Why else would a bunch of long-haired non-pretty boys in catsuits get in the charts these days?

However, if Justin's brother is wearing his Thin Lizzy t-shirt again, scream! He wears it ALL the time. It's as if he's trying to make out he's coooool.

Ah well, at the end of the day, the guys in the Darkness are the ones who'll be having their pick of which Ferrari/Porsche/Lambo dealer to spend their £m's of spondoolies in - more fool us!

At least the Darkness has a tune & a rhythm and gets you tapping your feet

I just don't get all that hip-hop, garage, mumbo-jumbo.

The Darkness are entertaining, end of. They're having fun and I'm having fun watching them. Can't see them making it past a second album, but for now: let's rock!

50Cent is supremly talentless as far as I can see though and ***** winning 2 awards takes the ****.

not when your opinion makes assumptions about his inability to distinguish between what he likes and what hes been conned into thinking he likes!

It's not an unreasonable assumption. After all, the power of marketing these days is formiddable.

Marketing can't make me like Marmite or Busted so it's not that good. I do like The Darkness though

Agree with tiggs...in fact was going to post a thread "brits does anyone care"...cos I doubt it.

I can assure you that the British Music scene is very healthy, as my ever growing CD collection will testfiy

Sadly, with a few exceptions such as The Darkness and Muse you won't see any signs of it at the Brits...just a big music industry lovey session

to be honest, if you like "good music" (whatever that means to you) you're better off watching whichever music award ceremony applies to your fave genre. The NME Awards were excellent this year with some very hard fought categories, for example.

Does anybody else get the feeling that some of these artists come from nowhere, overnight and are the biggest thing ever, no hanging around the high numbers in the chart with minimal exposure, its carpet bombing and mass airplay making you feel like you have missed the first five years of their career, artists like

Jenifer Lopez
Justin Timberlake
Missy Elliot
Macy Gray
JZ
50 Cent
Nelly
Lauryn Hill

its not like they have been around a while, they just appear and are huge, is it me or has anybody else noticed this.
