The Brits.Surely music isnt this bad these days.

Been watching the brits. Or more to the point the kids have. What a total load of ****e music if this is anything to go by.

That 50 cent geezer. What was he on about. Even put 888 on teletext and they didnt know either. And this is talent is it.I dont think so. Only word I managed to understand was nigger which he seemed to like saying.

And why so many catergories. Used to be rack, pop, blues, classic, jazz, R&B( which was rhythm and blues in my day) and motown.

Now we get R&B, garage, house, hip-hop,urban, dance etc.

Maybe I'm getting old but at least you could understand what the artists were saying in my day.

Chip.

NotoriousREV 17 February 2004 09:17 PM

Muse were awesome though, really lit the place up, IMHO

Chip 17 February 2004 09:20 PM

Must have missed him, her them then. Were they on early.

Chip.

wakeboardar 17 February 2004 09:22 PM

love cats by the jazz pair was good

Surely music isnt this bad these days.
I'm afraid it is, as I've been saying for some time.:( The music business is committing commercial suicide by pumping out ****e like Pop Idols and other manufactured rubbish. Blaming it all on internet downloads does not fool me, or a great many others of the music buying public if single sales are anything to go by.

The first rule of business - sell a quality product at a fair price and people will buy it.

UB:(

Chip 17 February 2004 09:29 PM

Yep they were good. Old song though! Nice to see some talent is still around.

deano 17 February 2004 09:30 PM

It's all bollox, you should have watched the "Bouncing Beanies" over on the other side :D

wrxsmo 17 February 2004 09:31 PM

Bring on the Darkness :D

unclebuck 17 February 2004 09:33 PM

you should have watched the "Bouncing Beanies"
I did. Now that *is* a quality act.

<The Darkness are crap too. Tony Blair's favourite band lol>

UB:D:D

Tiggs 17 February 2004 09:36 PM

its not the music- i am a fan of current pop- its just a poor show, theres plenty good acts around, just a crap layout- badly designed stage, etc

Steve vRS 17 February 2004 09:38 PM

The Brits has always been rubish apart from when Jarvis Cocker showed his ars3 to Mr Jackson and when Ginger Spice's boobs fell out of her dress!

Steve

Cat Deeley - why?
She's not bonnie.

deano 17 February 2004 09:42 PM

And Thumper Prescott got a soaking.

Chip 17 February 2004 09:43 PM

Jesus,50 cent has just won an award, now I can confirm my original post as being right.

Chip.

Chip 17 February 2004 09:44 PM

Think I'll go and listen to a bit of Floyd.

Chip.

J4CKO 17 February 2004 09:45 PM

Tell you what though, Duran Duran eh, crapped on the rest of them.

Poor old Gwen Stefani and Alisha Keys, doing a passable Prince/Tom Jones karaoke and bloody missy Elliot comes on dressed as a Rude Girl/Fraggle Hybrid and starts blathering on about nothing in particular, couldnt hear Gwen Stefani who has a good voice and Missy Elliot gets full volume, completely ruined something that was fairly bad anyway.

Pass that gun, Pass that gun......

"Now we get R&B, garage, house, hip-hop,urban, dance etc"

You can tell the difference ?

imlach 17 February 2004 09:45 PM

The Darkness are fun & light-hearted rock band. Why else would a bunch of long-haired non-pretty boys in catsuits get in the charts these days? :)

However, if Justin's brother is wearing his Thin Lizzy t-shirt again, scream! He wears it ALL the time. It's as if he's trying to make out he's coooool.

Ah well, at the end of the day, the guys in the Darkness are the ones who'll be having their pick of which Ferrari/Porsche/Lambo dealer to spend their £m's of spondoolies in - more fool us!

Tiggs 17 February 2004 09:46 PM

"Oh no. Youve been taken in by all the hype as well. "

cant he like what he likes?

imlach 17 February 2004 09:49 PM

At least the Darkness has a tune & a rhythm and gets you tapping your feet :)

I just don't get all that hip-hop, garage, mumbo-jumbo.

NotoriousREV 17 February 2004 10:01 PM

The Darkness are entertaining, end of. They're having fun and I'm having fun watching them. Can't see them making it past a second album, but for now: let's rock!

50Cent is supremly talentless as far as I can see though and Dildo winning 2 awards takes the piss.

course he can. Just voicing my opinion thats all. Or cant I do that now;)

Chip.

Tiggs 17 February 2004 10:14 PM

not when your opinion makes assumptions about his inability to distinguish between what he likes and what hes been conned into thinking he likes!

unclebuck 17 February 2004 10:18 PM

It's not an unreasonable assumption. After all, the power of marketing these days is formiddable.

UB:)

NotoriousREV 17 February 2004 10:21 PM

Marketing can't make me like Marmite or Busted so it's not that good. I do like The Darkness though ;)

bloke 17 February 2004 10:21 PM

Agree with tiggs...in fact was going to post a thread "brits does anyone care"...cos I doubt it.

I can assure you that the British Music scene is very healthy, as my ever growing CD collection will testfiy

Sadly, with a few exceptions such as The Darkness and Muse you won't see any signs of it at the Brits...just a big music industry lovey session :(

NotoriousREV 17 February 2004 10:23 PM

to be honest, if you like "good music" (whatever that means to you) you're better off watching whichever music award ceremony applies to your fave genre. The NME Awards were excellent this year with some very hard fought categories, for example.

bloke 17 February 2004 10:48 PM

Agreed NR... :)

J4CKO 17 February 2004 10:50 PM

Does anybody else get the feeling that some of these artists come from nowhere, overnight and are the biggest thing ever, no hanging around the high numbers in the chart with minimal exposure, its carpet bombing and mass airplay making you feel like you have missed the first five years of their career, artists like

Jenifer Lopez
Justin Timberlake
Missy Elliot
Macy Gray
JZ
50 Cent
Nelly
Lauryn Hill

its not like they have been around a while, they just appear and are huge, is it me or has anybody else noticed this.

Tiggs 17 February 2004 11:08 PM

you may have missed it but you'll find they did have careers before they got big! not justins fault you're not a big nsync fan ;)
