Banner ad's aren't too bad. Pop-ups/unders and those infuriating ones that slide in from the side are invasive, a pain in the butt and I wouldn't click them out of principle.

yes but not very often, although clicked one yesterday for royal mail 'smartstamp' on some site I cant even remember and have now paid to use it so banner ads can work, although it was a case of good timing (we were looking to buy a franking machine!)

they are my sworn enemy I hate the *******. Always being asked when putting sites together to make sure there is room for some annoying "commercial" slots, they make everything look cheap. Grrr.

I agree on pop-ups, although I'd have thought that webmasters would be starting to get the idea now that pop-up blockers are so readily available and effective. I use the Google toolbar myself and it does a great job.
Banners are about the least offensive form of internet ad I've come across, so I guess that makes them a good thing. If the alternative is having to pay for each and every site I might ever want to visit, then I'm definitely in favour. I'd still rather they weren't animated, though.
