Lots of new Canons (Ixus) inc + 10x optical zoom 3mp
..as I was looking to upgrade my Ixus 1, I was anxious to see what Canon was going to announce this year. They've made a slew of announcements today, which lead me to think I may as well get the Ixus 400.
One thing I can't find is how much faster is the 400 to
a) take the shot - keep missing action ie daughter jumping into pool with Ixus 100
b) be ready to take the next shot!
All the info on the new cameras here http://www.dpreview.com/
regards,
greg

You will always miss the action with this type of camera. What you should do is prefocus on the spot you want to photograph by holding the button half way down (it should beep at you when its taken all its readings) then follow the action without releasing pressure and just press the shutter button the rest of the way down. The only digitals that will take an 'instant shot' are the SLR's.

hi Cath,
Having had my Ixus 1 for a few years and thru 2 babies it has been fine. I've decided that small size is all important. If you had an SLR size you wouldn't take it with you everywhere, and could potentially miss shots as you didn't have it with you.
If you want to see some sample shots of my babies/kids let me know.
Regards,
greg

err, maybe depends on how much I could get for it, as other option is to have it as a 2nd camera as my 4 year old always wants to take pics everytime I take something!
