Hardly mate - look into what they can actually perform (reconstructive surgery following cancer etc etc).
Why isnt your dentist doing it - knees on the chest / pliers style you wimp?!

To be fair not an embelishment at all , max-fac surgeons have both a medical degree and a dentistry degree before they start to work as a junior doc. Total time in university of 9-10 years and then training for at least 8 years minimum before finishing as a consultant.
As they deal with all facial fractures calling them wisdom teeth docs is displaying a certain lack of understanding.

Ive got Impacted wisdom Teeth on the bottom, both sides
Private medical rather than the 3 year wait for the local Hospital to do it.
And yes I am a wimp and will ask for a generall anastecic, noway Im going to haver that done on a local, root cannal was bad enought under local!!

Ouch!
I had all 4 wisdoms removed at once under general - very good option. My lower ones were badly impacted and I needed some of my jaw bone cut away to release them - not something I'd have liked to be done in the dentist's chair!
