Anyone recommend someone in the St.Mawes, Cornwall area or someone that will go there for a reasonable price to photograph a wedding?

Hi Alex
One thing I would say, be prepared to pay for a good one. I have seen friends and relatives who have paid a few hundred quid for photographers and got terrible photos. We are using the guy who did my best mates sister's and my sister's wedding, his photos are excellent, but he is costing 1350 quid.
He is based in Shinfield, Berks, but if you want his details anyway I can let you know.

Alex,
We used this guy a couple of months ago. He's based in Reigate, and I have to say we got a cracking packing including all the negs and digital files so we can get reprints done cheaper. He's very professional but has been completely flexible too. A real pleasure to have dealings with.

Say Simon and Lucy sent ya (and if he still sounds confused mention Langshott Manor!).
He may not travel to cornwall but it'd be worth asking. He came round to our house first to show us his portfolio, and scoped out the location as well. It should be noted that others charged for this, seemingly simple service, but Angus did it for nowt.
Simon.
Edit to add that as well as being there from about midday to 9pm on the day, he came back the next morning as well... Got some groovy 'on the grounds' pics as it was too dark the previous day (4pm in november) to get the shots!

Just wanted to echo what has already been said.
You get what you pay for!
I know when you look at some of the expensive prices you can be tempted to go for something cheaper. Don't do it!!!!
We did and we'll regret it forever.
I wish I had tried to save money on something else and gone for the best photographer I could have found.
I should have invited a few less grumpy relatives and put the money towards my photos.
At the end of the day all you have to look back on apart from the memories are the photos (and a video if you have one done.)
Oh and have a back up plan for if it rains!!!
We had planned all these lovely photos at a castle but it poured with rain all day (in august!!!) We ended up having all the photos taken in the church.
Looking back now we could have had much better photos taken at the reception if we had thought about it.
As a result all our photos are groups of relatives stood in front of the church window. There is no variation.
The guy that came the next morning for SD sounds wonderful
Where was he when I needed him!!
We had a fantastic day and I'm sure you will to.
I just hope your photos can capture some of the memories for you.
When you look back at them you’ll realise they were worth every penny.
Just thought I'd share that with you.
I'm sure you were never intending to make the stupid mistake I did!
Good luck with your search

We used Anthony Jones Photography
He is based in Caterham, and we were extremely pleased with our photos.
He was very good at organising people, getting them to smile at the right places and all that sort of thing. Also a bit of a perfectionist, and would take polaroids first for the key shots.
Not cheap, but definately worth it.

Slightly off topic, but
Why not buy 20 or so of those disposable 35mm cameras and hand them out to selected guests. Don't forget to collect they all at the end of the evening.
My mate got some great shots a few years back.
David
PS - I'm not suggesting you don't get a pro instead.

Shark - We did this also! Put them on each of the tables at dinner... We got some very interesting shots too, although obviously there was a lot of wastage when the kids got hold of the cameras (oh look, a door hinge, a carpet, a foot, another door etc).
Agree with what's been said - Don't scrimp on this expenditure.
Simon.

Yeah we did this too!!
We put them on the tables at the reception and it gave us a great view of the day from their point of view.
Again though make sure you get decent cameras with a flash.
Keep an eye out for buy one get one free kodak ones at places like Boots etc.
We had a guest book that floated round the reception also I love looking back at this now. The messages get funnier as the guests got more into the wine!!
