Katie Melua's cute, but so MOR it's just not true. Perhaps if she ditched Mike Batt she'd cut a more individual groove. Some of the self-penned tracks offer hope, it has to be said, but it's not much to base a career on and the jury's still very much out on her longevity.

"The new Norah Jones" is the lazy though probably accurate description, but as I'd rather walk over hot coals whilst saluting a picture of Margaret Thatcher than listen to anything by the aforementioned Ms Jones that's hardly a recommendation.
