sideways underbraking
#1
test drove a car today that felt fine out on the road until braking at which point it pulled to the right. not being a mechanic, does this mean it's had a prang and isn't straight or is there anything less significant it could be?
thanks
ps vehicle exterior seemed to be fine.....panel gap equidistant all round car.

most likely to be the brakes needing bleeding. Sounds like there's air in the n/s caliper, causing the o/s to have more "bite" and pulling the car to the right.
Can be solved by bleeding the brakes properly.
Of course, it could be tracking or even a duff n/s caliper but air in the brakes would be the first thing I'd check.

you should feel the car pulling to the right all the time if the pressure or balance is off. If it happens purely under braking then the braking system is out of balance.
This is either air in one of the system (so one caliper is weaker than other) or something wrong with the piston as it can't provide the same braking force as the other.
It's enough to put doubt in a buyers mind, so either use it to your advantage or simply walk away.
