Heavy car, more inertia, slower to react - easier to catch (try engine at either end FWD or RWD)

Lighter car, less inertia, faster to react (or spin) harder to catch (but easier to correct if caught) (Typical Mid engined car)

FWD - lift off over steer
RWD - Power oversteer
AWD - Depends on loading; can do both

If you want to get lots of sideways, practice on a really slippery surface; like grass. Build up you reactions from there, in whatever car you want...

Other things being equal, is it better to have a heavy or a light car, and a firm or soft suspension? I know, "it depends", but as a generalisation which is better?
