Hello all,

Had a bit of a shock this morning when using Overnet(File sharing program like direct connect).

When i browsed a users folder to see what files he had available for download, i noticed he had loads of files named in such a way that would suggest they were videos of Child ****.

After promptly closing the connection, i got to thinking what i had just seen, and to be onest i feel horrible because i had even read the file names.

What can be done in these situations, i feel quite sick actually!

Report it, if he has nothing to hide he won't mind the police taking quick look at his hard disk. This guy may be out now doing unspeakable things, if he is innocent he should know better than to have files named in this manner and he will understand the law wanting to take a look if not he wants everything he will receive.

How do i do this though, as overnet sometimes only gives you an IP Address,

But in this guym his IP is hidden, and the usernames on Overnet are 4 random letters such as azcd, unless specified otherwise.

Report it to the police? You can give his IP address and they can trace him from that.

i think i'll leave it this time, if i come across him or others again, i'll do more to get more information on him.

REPORT IT, just think you reporting this could be a direct link to his arrest just before he carries out any crimes relating to his sick perversions.

aside from whether you should report him.....he has gone from someone with stupidly titled filenames to a sick pervert in one afternoon.....give it a week and he'll be swinging by the neck.

Er, is this something new! Put in '****' or 'teen' into kazza or similar and you'll get millions of hits containing very suspect titles from loads of different users. Assuming even half these were legitimately 'underage ****' then to report one would be like trying to take a drop of water of the lake and notice the difference Best left to the police experts to go after the big fish IMHO.

... on the other hand, he may be thinking he's doing a good turn by renaming the mpegs of his church's carol service, by trying to throw a spanner in the works. He could be doing a bit of detective work himself, capturing IP addresses of people who download his movies.

Could be true, the Police have just set up a fake pedo site to catch pedos, giving them every single opportunity to back out before advancing on every page, and eventually they will recieve a page that says its the police and all activity has been recorded etc

Makes me wonder if the site that me and a few others (in their hundreds ) attacked was part of an FBI sting. It could explain why it didnt even slow down let alone crashed as we planned..

I was just having a thought about why the quy wouldn't try and hide these files. It is quite possible that he may live in a country such as Holland where the age of consent is 12, thus meaning he may not be doing anything illegal.

Just a thought.

If on the news you hear of any thing.......just remember YOU could have prevented it.
Also, if it is innocent then he has nothing to hide.....

After what has just happened in the news, I can`t believe you are going to turn a blind eye....I take it you don`t have kids then!!!

anyone on here with kazza or similar should go and search for stuff then report all the iffy sounding file names....is that the idea? or do we only report it if we stumble accross it?

Well, i'm going to leave it, you are right, i don't have kids, maybe if i did i would have another view.

But tiggs is right, if anyone using any other network share program searches for this stuff, you would be i a full time job just reporting your findings....

Anyway, could i ask that the moderators lock this thread as its going nowhere.
