No you don't!!
You can still enter for a period of up to three months on the visa waiver scheme. All that's changing is that from October 2004 you must have an electronically readable passport (identified by two rows of characters at the bottom of the picture page of your passport).
You fill in the green immigration form and a customs decalration as you enter the country - immigration will ask you a few questions and stamp the immigration form before stapling it to your passport. You must give this green form up on leaving the US.
Simple as that really.

Idle, Taken from the American Embassy Website:-
"Important: Some travelers may not be eligible to enter the United States visa free under the VWP. These include people who have been arrested, even if the arrest did not result in a criminal conviction, those with criminal records, (the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to U.S. visa law), certain serious communicable illnesses, those who have been refused admission into, or have been deported from, the United States, or have previously overstayed on the visa waiver program. Such travelers must apply for special restricted visas. If they attempt to travel without a visa, they may be refused entry into the United States."
This is what I was refering to

The whole place is very cheap to be honest.
The best thing is if you are playing the tables or the slots and you tip the waitress a couple of bucks each time she will just keep bringing you drinks free of charge - wonderful.
