Question

Is it possible? Mine just will not synchronise. I am on NTL 600. No problem with comms between Road Angel & PC - just the internet.

Any ideas on here as Black Spot did not bother to call me back

Cheers

If you leave the GPS output switched on you get something like a "Break received" error

I use XP and adsl a haven't had a problem so far (famous last words ). When I used win95 I had no end of grief getting the RA to be recognised

Did anybody else find that the Blackspot servers seemed to be down over the weekend? - it would upload my data then not receive anything

I had it with mine, but for the life of me I can't remember how I fixed it.

Think I reinstalled the RoadAngel software and that fixed it (I used it with dial up first so it got confused by ADSL)

Hi

I had a problem when I first installed the software and tried to update across our office network which used a microwave internet connection. Blackspot told me that the update software uses a port that may be closed and to try a direct dialup - which worked fine with my laptop and modem. We've now moved to ADSL and this also works fine, so it could be worth just checking which ports are closed on your system.

as per wrx03ppp suggests, have you got a firewall running (there is a crap one built into XP, which may have enabled itself!)

Could Zone Alarm affect it?

Hi

I think that any software that restricts access to the web could potentially prevent it from the Road Angel updating by blocking non-essential ports. Blackspot were non-specific about which particular port they need to operate but told me straight away the likely cause - obviously not the first time that this has happened.

Certainly Zone Alarm would fall into this category of apps.

No not using a USB adaptor. DB9 cable goes directly into back of PC from Raod Angel. Internet goes to NTL cable modem through NIC (RJ45)

Will try calling them again.

Cheers

This is getting silly now

Blackspot say it should dial my default internet connection - How can it I say as there isn't one. I am on NTL and that is like a LAN. Talk to NTL he says.

NTL say it should stop attempting to dial as the connection is already up - Try a basic dial up account. He did give me a list of ports that they are blocking, but I don't think that has any bearing.

So if you are using XP with an NTL Cable Modem and your's works - Please tell me how you did it

Cheers
