Red face

Went to the dentist on thursday with toothache, said there was nothing wrong, and put some floride on it.
Now it is hurting like hell!
What is your best cure, while I wait for the painkillers to kick in.
I've tried the cotton wool with whiskey on! That was rubbish, and I'm not going to the dentist today, unless it gets completly unbearable.
chris
ps, any dentist on here who could help out in the stockport area, would be much appreciated!

several options either rub black pepper on the base of the tooth will numb it. nurofen x 2 and 2 paracetamols at the same time will also work. but dont do more than 4 times in a 24hr period.

Clove oil is revolting mate, trust me i have tried it, makes you feel sickadn leaves a horrible taste in your gob that last's all day. Try co-codamol, paracetamol & codine ,you can get it from any good chemist, this worked fine for me, also cures hangovers

Oil of Cloves is still the quickest way to get relief. If the toothache is bad enough you don't care about the taste.

Sorry to hear about it-hope it gets better quickly.

Right, be careful over doing it with clove oil as your gums can bleed but it will offer temporary relief.

Your best bet is to ring your dentist who may well be part of the EDS (emergency dental service), I know they won't be there now but they are likely to have an answer phone message telling you to ring NHS Direct on 08454647.

A nurse will deal with you in the same way and will tell you where your nearest emergency dentist's is. (usually between 2-4pm on Sunday).

Go along and be assessed. If it's an abcess then at least you may get antibiotics prescribed so they can get in your system sooner rather than later.

I was in pain all last week never slept for 2 nights. Started with headaches and pain around the eye then started round one of my teeth. Couldnt get a dentist appointment anywhere so ended up at the nhs one. They told me i had a hole in my tooth and all she did was scrape it and give me antibiotics. That worked for one day. I still cant get an appointment anywhere it's a disgrace.

Got some nurofen the other day though and i have had no pain at all only slight pain when you can feel it wearing off.

Just hope i can get an appointment this week as it's costing me more in nurofen than it is to run my cossie lol.

Well, today hopefully it should all be over, finally!
After going to the dentist on sunday, and again on monday morning, I was there again this morning, still with roaring toothache.
He managed to take out all the fillings on my upper right side, and then filled them with dressing.
But I was still in pain!
So back I went after work at 14:30 today, to be told to come back at 17:30, when he would have a proper look.
Went back, my wife turned up too, (she used to be a dental nurse!)and the dentist decided to delve deeper than ever before this time.
To cut a longish story short, he has taken out the wisdom tooth on that side, with a massive cavity and raw nerve poking out the bottom, and that seems to have done the trick.
The worse part was the sound of the tooth being pulled out!
Mouth is just sore now, and I'm off to bed, as I have had a very long bad day.
thanks again for your comments and support,
hopefully thats the last you'll hear of my teeth

Exclamation

Be warned anyone who hasn't been the dentist for a few years.I neglected my teeth for a good five years and am now enduring a painful course of treatment to sort it all out. So far I've had a root canal filling, a wisdom tooth removed, seven deep fillings (almost to the gums)and a thorough perio scraping. I've still got to have a tooth re-built and 9 more fillings (no **** honest). Every wednesday for the past 5 weeks I have been numb in a different part of my face, been on a course of antibiotics and a course of painkillers (Paramol are the best you can buy over the counter!). So be warned and don't let any manky teeth fester.
