Eternity ring

Depends on how much you want to spend.
Tiffany do some cracking rings (not sure about eternity) Click Here.
I bought a 0.5 carrat diamond for Miss Type R from Goldsmiths a while back and remember them having a reasonable range (uncertified though).

My mate made my wife's one - he works in the jewellery quarter of Birmingham
Got it at a reasonable price, plus it's a one-off
How I got some mileage out of THAT present!!!!

A ring might last forever, but you won't. Insurance is unfortunately a modern essential, a piece of metal with some pretty polished rocks isn't. As much as we treasure trinkets and attatch emotional value to them, they really are irrelevant to life as a whole. As is insurance, but going without a ring is not an offence.

CB - Your girlfriend is one lucky soul IMO
Appart from motor insurance (or house/life if you own a home) I'm not sure if insurance is really a modern essential. It's just made out to be essential by the companies that sell it.
IMO making Miss Type R feel special is essential. Sure diamonds are expensive but then I've recently spent £15k on a car that will lose the cost of the ring I bought every 12 months
