what do you do when you feel like you just can't carry on? having the vehicle inspectorate on the 'phone today seemed like the last staw, even though in reality it isn't really my problem (i.e. it's someone else's problem but i know that that person hasn't got their sh*t together and will therefore f*ck up and sooner or later the resulting mess will have to be sorted out, probably by me). i just feel as though i haven't got what it takes to solve all the problems in my working life. dunno what the point of this post is, really - probably pointless, but there you go. i just feel totally drained.

I know exactly how you feel at the moment mate
But you just have to smile and keep going as there are far more people out there worse off than us

I've been like this for months - even when things interesting/good start happening in my life I get stressed about it because I'm so 'drained' as you put it! I think a job change might help me so I'll follow that path.

ahh - good to know i'm not a sad b*stard all on my own, then. 248 - you are right that there are many people worse off; in my case i have many, many things to be thankful for, it's just hard to remember that when you feel like total cr*p. SB - job change isn't really an option for me as i couldn't bear to walk away from everything that i helped to create - i just need better ways to cope with the stress. I ordered a book on dealing with nervous problems from amazon today, this one although i haven't even got round to listening to the motivational cd that BB sent me a few weeks ago.

chaos - i find it hard to believe that i am agreeing with you about something, but that sounds like a great plan to me. i'll take a truckload of jonnie walker black - not the classiest whisky ever, but for me, the best for those really self indulgent, sorrowful drinking sessions.

Just a suggestion. Move to the Isle of Man. Then you can enjoy your Scoobs to the full on the way to buy a bottle of Johnnie Walker.
Get a grip guys. If you can't hack your job, change it. If your life is dull, it's your fault. Get a hobby or two (if you're all Scoob owners you've already got the best one). There are many much worse off than you, so count your blessings and take charge of your own destiny's and cheer up FFS. You sound like a bunch of Beckhams with nothing to moan about at all really.

What worse hardship of life
What greater injustice can be thrust upon the mind
Than that of boredom?
For in silence there rests a cacophony of noise
Which, without activity, cannot be drowned

PC, thats exactly how I felt before I got made redundant. Tell you what: I'm a million times happier out of work than I was in a job I hated. Friends and family have all commented on how I'm a different person.
If you need to, change your environment.

I'm up for the group buy
My life started getting to a pathetic level almost 2 years ago. I've only dug the trench deeper
I know I need to do something, but what? No-one can help me, I've already found that one out. I'm stuck where I am, lost the motivation to even try and do anything nowadays. I was a very generous kind hearted person, but I've been leached far too much, so I have a cynical view on everything.
The only time I seem to "let go" is to be paralytically drunk. It helps, for a bit. Till the next day and I'm back to square one. Perhaps if I was an alcoholic like my old man I wouldn't have such a bad view on my life - well, nothing ever bothers him! But I don't want to go down that path - I've seen what it does.
God, it is getting bad, I'm expressing my feelings on BBS's

You've convinced me Imlach - I have to pick your brains on this soon I agree money would be useful and I know fine well there are many people better off than me but often people can't help the way they feel. I have lots of positive things in my life but there are a few major negative things that are really getting to me. I'm sure I'll pull out of it soon though
