I reckon I got caught On the M4 being careful as you like until the signs for the bridge tolls then too busy reading them and strayed up to 80 just as the ******* were sat on the bridge above Now if you ask me that was very sneaky because if like me you would have been concentrating on where you were going In Wales I was on the limit everywhere until this little error on the second day

tell you what, we were glad to get out of Wales, its a ****hole mate, even the pellican crossing flashing lights were in a cage...
We saw pink sheep, Local welsh boys setting fire to the forest, a hundred ****ing speed traps and a thousand drab grey houses with boarded up windows, very nice place I don't think. But we did make it back with all four wheels attached despite stopping at several traffic lights, and we didnt get broken into either, so its a happy ending.
Wat a load of old bollox you talk. If you think Wales is a ****hole then you should have a good look around England then. Maybe then you'll realisec what a beautiful place Wales is.

see you next year
Wasn't that bad then was it.

Hope you paid your £4.50 entry fee on the way in as well.

Chip.

Bet a few of you will not have taken notice of all the warnings and will have an NIP dropping through your letterboxes next week.

DanTheMan, you obviously travelled *south* of the stages??

Now if you'd taken a northern route, I'm sure you'd be left with a different impression - no speed traps, little traffic, cracking roads, really enjoyed myself....until I got back into England.....

Ahh, but, certainly until recently, South Wales have been sending their NIPs by second class post.

I think that the drivers (the ones on foreign plates anyway) / organisers need new lawyers.
Since the police would be unlikely to be able to serve a NIP on a foreign keeper within 14 days, I assume that they must have S172'd the organisers. The organisers are not a valid recipient of a NIP under RTOA 1988, Section 1. Therefore, all the organisers had to do was delay their response until after 14 days from the speeding offence, and the accused is "not to be convicted". Notwithstanding the fact that second class post is not a valid method of service for a NIP (as above).

The BBC story claims that "...The roadside cameras picked up a total of 2,312 speeding offences...". Even if each was fined 'just' £150, that's roughly £350k in revenue for the local Police force. Not bad for a weekend's work, is it?

Yep good old Tunbridge Wells, so kind of them to paint the cameras yellow but hide them behind trees and signs!!!

Wonder who did it? If I see them I'll buy them a beer.

I totally did see those things:
pellican crossing flashing lights were in a cage I believe this was in a village called Hirwaun as we left SS5

We saw pink sheep These were in several fields as we approached Rhigos, its the season when tups have markers when they are mating - very funny I can tell you

Local welsh boys setting fire to the forest photo proof from SS5

a hundred ****ing speed traps well that speaks for itself, check out the welsh police sites etc etc

and a thousand drab grey houses with boarded up windows erm they were everywhere, stacks of dodgy villages and towns, you live so close maybe you should get out more

maybe we won't be back to Wales ever again:
The FIA has issued a response to the wave of speeding fines and bans issued by Neath magistrates yesterday as a result of the 2002 Rally of Great Britain.

A total of 19 drivers were punished for speeding offences, most of them incurred passing a camera set up near the shakedown, before the rally had started.

“Road safety is a matter of the utmost importance to the FIA,” a spokesman said. “The actions of the police and magistrates seem to indicate that this is an exceptionally dangerous location for a Rally. The FIA has therefore asked its safety delegate for a report on the suitability of the local public roads for a World Championship event.”

South Wales Police have stepped up speeding camera surveillance in recent years, siting cameras on or close to the rally route on a temporary basis. Cameras have been trained temporarily on 30 mph (50 km/h) dual carriageway bridges, without pedestrian access. The FIA enquiry will raise questions over the suitability of south Wales as a location for a major rally.

ahhh, cool. What a shame. hopefully the other ones will find the same fate and the council will realise that the motorists are not happy.
