The Getaway is absolute pants anyway.
Same goes for the Grand Theft Auto series - the only reason they sell is because of the ratings they have.
Incidentally - age ratings on games are not the same as the ratings for films - on games its just advisory.
PS - you can get a refund on games so long as its still in its shrinkwrap (Well I did from Woolies). GAME also give you 16 days (I think) in which to return a game and swap it for another.

Bought a game for my cousin that hes always going on about called the getaway, got it home then realised its for people over 18 and hes only 8!
So i took it back and they wont give me my money back, they will only exchange for another game or give me bloody gift vouchers!!!
not happy, whats the problem with giving the money back aslong as its a genuine mistake!

This might be of help http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/c...V0043-1011.txt
But I think that by the letter of the law they are in the right, as there is nothing wrong with the game.
Taken from the above page:
WHEN ARE YOU NOT ENTITLED TO ANYTHING?
If you were told of any faults before you bought the goods.
If the fault was obvious and it would have been reasonable to have noticed it on examination before buying.
If you caused any damage yourself.
If you made a mistake, e.g. you don't like the colour, it is the wrong size etc.
You have changed your mind about the goods, or seen them cheaper elsewhere.
You bought the goods more than six years ago.

I was speaking to my dad the other day and he bought a pair of light guns for the xbox and when he got home he realised they were no compatable with the game (House of the Dead 3)
So he took them back and they REFUSED to issue a refund. Credit note or vouchers yes, refund no. Managers were called and they still refused. He finalyl accepted defeat and took the vouchers.

I think the reason they don't like doing issuing full refunds is because everything they sell is so easily copyable. Videos, DVDs, Computer games, CDs etc. are so easy to copy that if people knew they would get their money back they would get toerags buying stuff, copying it then getting a refund.

Go back in, get the name of the person involved (make sure they know you have it) then get the address of head office from them and write to the MD personally mentioning this guys attitude problem. I reckon you'll get your refund there and then in the shop if they think you are going to stir up trouble at head office.

Strange...
I change stuff all the time at HMV - never had a problem at any store. They have a no quibble exchange policy, providing you have a receipt. I buy CDs on spec, don't like them and take them back, giving that as the reason. Still no probs.
Cheers

10 day's for game....
I've taken a few back ... even once said I'd completed it within the ten day's and got my money back ( I do admit that's taking it a little too far)

You get 21 days to return goods at HMV - it's on the back of the receipt.
Head back with the game and your receipt and demand they do what they said they would.
Cheers
We will exchange or refund your items provided you have a valid receipt.
Refunds will be issued by the original method of payment and at the original selling price.
Cheers

I bought a Gameboy AdvanceSP and SuperMario3 as a Christmas present for my little man.
They have put on the receipt it is a gift and I can take it back if he doesn't like the colour or the game for an exchange so long as the goods are in original condition.
HMV seem to be being a bit harsh though. Is there no other game your lad would like.

You could always take it to another store after inflicting the damage yourself. They would have to offer a refund then as they couldn't prove that you did it Nice little scratch should sort it. Just complain about the fact that you had to drive all the way back to the store which has cost you XXX because you have a performance vehicle and all because HMV can't look after their stock, etc. Just state that you are fedup with the way they have treated you and that they will never see your business again.
Furthermore ring store support and lodge a complaint. WHSmith have a £5 gift voucher policy to anyone who complains
Failing that there is always the for sale forum

I dont know why anyone would buy anything from HMV anyway all their chart CDs are about £3/4 more than supermarkets/online in fact all their stuff is dearer than anyone else, a complete waste of time going there!

Damn HMV and Damn Virgin for both having sales. The rotters have forced me to buy 4 DVD's on Monday and another 4 yesterday.
I'm not going out at lunchtime today - too expensive!

CD-WOW or play.com
I don't buy from Virgin Megastores, as they tend to have a relatively poor selection of music, virtually no back catalogue, and a poor returns policy.

Just looked at the receipt........
RETURNS INFORMATION.
"We will EXCHANGE item purchased in error or unwanted gifts provided they are returned within 21 days in perfect condition accompanied by a receipt.
All good must include original packaging."
-------------------------------------------
it says they will exchange but not refund.

My receipt says exactly what I posted earlier. It's also a receipt I used to return two CDs I didn't like. It shows an exchange for another CD + a refund for £4.99. There's a Reason Code too: -
A couple of weeks ago, I returned three CDs I didn't like, bought in Middlesbrough, to the Newcastle store. Full refund to my card - no hassles.
I always said the North East was a friendlier, more trusting place to live...
Cheers!
